Pietas in Latin means piety, devotion, kindness, compassion, dutifulness, dutiful conduct.

Gerald Caron chose his subjects from the rocky shoreline of Maine to the sandy beaches of Connecticut. Yankee Magazine commissioned him to paint the cover for its July 1986 magazines. The result was Pietas, arguably the finest painting that Caron has ever painted. Only a few signed and numbered prints remain.

About Adam ...

A member of the Appraisers Association of America since 1980, Adam is a third-generation restorer of antiques, fine arts, collectibles and household contents. He owned and operated an antiques, fine furniture, fine and decorative arts restoration business for more than 28 years (1963-1990 ). In parallel with this business he formed a successful damage survey company which inventoried, valued, restored and adjusted losses to works of art, collectibles, fine pianos and household contents in transit.

With 53 years of experience, Adam now concentrates on the valuation of the above categories and more (see list below) and continues to complete damage surveys, arranging for other craftsmen to complete the necessary restorations and repairs. He acts as a salvage agent for insurers and has placed many salved fine arts, antiques, oriental carpets and other items at auction or with private buyers. Mr. Colagrossi has been qualified as an expert witness before Federal, Superior and
Small Claims courts throughout the United States. His practice extends to Canada as well. His client base includes private individuals, major insurance companies, law firms and
moving and storage companies. Mr. Colagrossi has been granted the title of “Qualified Source” by the United States Department of the Treasury and has worked, under contract, for the Internal Revenue Service with regard to the review of appraisals for contribution, estate and gift taxes. He has also advised and continues to advise ART SERVICES INTERNATIONAL GROUP, which handles appraisal problems for foreign clients, including the Western Wealth Management Divisions of AIG Privat Bank, Zurich and the Pictet Group, Geneva, Switzerland.
